COSTA RICA

This country is inhabited since 5000 BC by the Amerindians, but was baptized Costa Rica (Rich Coast) in 1502, when Christopher Columbus discovered the country on his fourth trip.

From 1502 to the end of the eighteenth century, Costa Rica suffered little intervention from the Spanish authorities and the Catholic Church, due to its distance from the city of Guatemala (nerve center during this period under the Spanish authority) and also its very rugged geography, so very difficult to access.

From the end of the eighteenth century, the Spaniards became more interested in Costa Rica in order to develop commercial agriculture, including the production of tobacco for export. Thanks to exports of tobacco, Costa Rica became a more prosperous society and Costa Ricans dominated the intellectual and political life of Central America in the early nineteenth century. Costa Rica followed Mexico in 1821 during its declaration of independence, and its separation from Spain and then formed a sovereign republic.

The nineteenth century was also marked by the boom in coffee growing, which then became a major product of exploitation. Added to this was the development of the banana industry and the arrival of investments and foreign capital that helped to create infrastructure (railways, public facilities, etc.).

From the election of PLN member Otilio Ulate, headed by Jose Figueres Ferrer, the country became the most democratic country in Latin America, a position it still holds today.

Costa Rica is also a beautiful country with its forests, volcanoes, beaches, rivers and incredible biodiversity and unique in the world. This small Central American country contains 5% of the world's biodiversity and more than 30% of the national territory is protected. It is one of the only countries in the world to produce 95% of its clean energy. Costa Rica aims to be the first country in the world to achieve carbon neutral status by 2025. It is a leader in this field, being the first country in the world to obtain a certification in responsible tourism since 1996, relying on respect for natural and human resources.

Costa Rica is bordered on the north by Nicaragua and crossed by its three volcanic cordilleras (Guanacaste, Central Valley and Talamanca) from north to south of the country with its border with Panama and its still virgin forests, to is by the Caribbean Sea and its beaches composed of lagoons and lush vegetation and finally, to the west by the Pacific Ocean rich in huge beaches of white and black sands.

Costa Rica is today a demilitarized country and is a presidential democracy.

Its area is 51 060 km² and its population is just over 4 million. The main language of the country is Spanish (English is used throughout the tourist sector) and its currency is the settler, although the dollar is also used, this linked to the strong tourist development of the country. Growth has been around 5% for more than a decade and annual price inflation is around 10%.

Tamarindo

Tamarindo is a village in District 9 named Tamarindo, in the County of Santa Cruz, in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

This district is made up of villages such as Tamarindo, Villareal, Santa Rosa, Garita Nueva, Hernandez and San Jose de Pinilla. It is bordered by other districts (Tempate, Santa Cruz, April 27), themselves composed of villages such as Flamingo, Brazilito, Avellanas or Marbella and, in the west by the Pacific Ocean.
The village of Tamarindo, a former fishing village, is today one of the most touristic communities in Costa Rica. Its geographical position and its climatic conditions make of it an ideal zone to live there, for the practice of surfing and other water sports and of full nature. The Marino las Baulas National Park, for the most part, is part of the Tamarindo District and is the most important nesting ground for the world's largest and endangered Baula Turtle. Conchal, Flamingo and many other beaches offer both places for relaxation and idleness as places to practice all types of activities (water sports, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, motor sports and other goods). Endless beaches with different settings such as Avellana, Tamarindo, Playa Grande, Conchal, Flamingo and many others also offer the same benefits to practice all types of outdoor sports. Added to this is another ecosystem that is the mangrove in which we can discover dozens of animals and wild birds. Tamarindo is the second tourist destination of the country after the Poas volcano.

3) What is the cost of living in Costa Rica?

It is difficult to answer this question in a general way because many parameters are taken into account and the cost of living is a very subjective notion.

It can be said that the cost of living is still lower than the Western countries with equivalent needs and higher than the countries of the third world, of course. Indeed, if you want to live with the same consumption needs as "at home", then some products will be the same cost however if you buy local products and live at the pace of the country, the deal will be different. But again everything is relative.

It is better to come and get your own idea, of course, once again, we will accompany you on this first trip.

To tell the truth, none; indeed you buy or invest in the same way as a Costa Rican, whatever your status, so your investment (investment banking, buying a hotel, buying a house or land ...) is protected by local laws and totally secure.

The only risk is not to surround yourself with good people and competent professionals and therefore have the wrong information as in any other country.
